About the Event:
The Orthodontic Career Fair brings together organizations with available practice opportunities, such as associateships or practices for sale, with individuals who are actively seeking opportunities. Employers can showcase their opportunities and potentially engage with hundreds of AAO members, ranging from current residents and recent graduates ready to begin their careers to seasoned practitioners seeking new opportunities.

- Employers from all practice types with available orthodontic opportunities who wish to enhance their brand, fill their candidate pipeline, and hire top talent
- Orthodontists seeking new career opportunities or exploring career options
- Recent or expected orthodontic residency graduates who are ready to begin their careers
- Orthodontists seeking to learn more about various nationwide opportunities

Practices and organizations with available orthodontic opportunities (e.g., associateships, practices for sale, etc.) are encouraged to register. Your registration will include a booth reservation to represent your practice/organization and interact with prospective candidates during an open networking period between 4:00 and 5:30 p.m. If you already have a few candidates in your pipeline, you can also access your booth before and after the event (3:00-4:00 p.m. and/or 5:30-7:30 p.m.) to schedule on-site interviews. Please note that employers will be responsible for scheduling all interviews.
To begin the recruitment process, exhibitors are also encouraged to post available opportunities on the AAO’s Practice Opportunities & Careers site prior to the event.

- You can check-in at the event location and begin preparing your booth space at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 6th.
- Maps will be placed at the front entrance to help you locate your booth. Each booth will also have a sign with the organization’s name.
- You are free to use your booth space to conduct in-person interviews between 3:00-4:00 p.m. and/or 5:30-7:30 p.m.
- The open networking period will begin promptly at 4:00 p.m. Please have your booth ready prior to this time and be mindful of those who may be conducting interviews.
- You are welcome to bring portable electronic devices such as a laptop or tablet, as well as fliers and other materials. Displays are permitted as long as they are within the confines of your booth space.

Check out these resources to help you prepare for the event:
Residents and orthodontists at Annual Session are welcome to attend this open-networking event to engage face-to-face with employer representatives and discuss available opportunities (tickets are not required for job seekers). It is best to be prepared when attending a career fair, so be sure to do the following prior to the event:
- Ensure your curriculum vitae/résumé is accurate and up-to-date. The American Student Dental Association offers a great resource with CV/résumé tips. Don’t forget to bring plenty of copies with you as well as business cards if you have them. It is easiest to store these items in a portfolio briefcase.
- Learn about participating practices/organizations and their available opportunities. This will help you identify and prioritize which booths to visit and how to plan your conversations with representatives.
- After learning about each practice/organization, prepare a list of specific and focused questions you would like to ask. You may want to reference this list before visiting each booth. For example, are you interested in learning about their hiring process, continuing education opportunities, or the community in which they practice? Did you learn something interesting about their practice that you would like to know more about?
- Develop and practice an elevator pitch. This is a brief introduction (about 30 seconds) that summarizes who you are, your career interests, and what you have to offer prospective employers such as relevant skills, accomplishments, and experiences. Always greet representatives with a firm handshake, smile, and positive attitude!
- Dress professionally and appropriately to deliver a positive first impression.
- Allow yourself enough time to visit as many booths as you can. Again, you may want to prioritize the practices/organizations you want to visit the most; however, keep an open mind and visit booths that aren’t on your list as well. You might be surprised!
- Bring something with you to take notes. You may want to make note of contact information, conversations you had with representatives, and information you want to remember about each practice/organization.
- Ask representatives for their business cards/contact information and follow up with them after the event. This is an opportunity to thank representatives for taking the time to speak with you and to reference your conversation, express interest in an opportunity, and remind them of your qualifications. This will foster communication beyond the event.
