General Information

AAO’s Practice Opportunities & Careers is a confidential matching service that connects registered AAO members seeking orthodontic practice opportunities with those who have opportunities to offer. Providers can use the service to post opportunities and search seeker profiles/resumes. Seekers can create profiles, upload their resumes, and search for opportunities. Seekers are also notified of new opportunity listings based on their selected criteria.

Providers and seekers communicate directly with one another, and only they decide with whom to continue discussions. For providers who choose not to list contact information, there is an internal messaging system to maintain confidentiality. Please note that the AAO is not involved in the discussions between providers and seekers.

There is no cost to AAO members who personally log into the service to request access and create an opportunity. The fee for non-AAO members to post an opportunity is $150 for 30 days or $375 for 90 days.

The following orthodontic opportunities can be posted within the service:

  • Equipment for sale
  • Full-time associate
  • Part-time associate
  • Independent contractor
  • Lease/rent space
  • Locum tenens (short-term vacancies)
  • Partnership
  • Practice for Sale
  • Orthodontic faculty
  • Orthodontic program chair
  • Orthodontic program director

Policies and procedures are in place to safeguard the privacy of all AAO members and to protect their confidentiality. Providers must agree to the terms of the service when requesting access.

All listings must be an accurate and true representation of the opportunity. Misleading information will be removed.

In order to maintain the service’s reliability, only current opportunities will remain posted. Providers are required to log into the service to manage their own active opportunities. Each opportunity will automatically expire after 90 days and must be extended by the provider as needed.

Providers are required to acknowledge all inquiries (including those from the AAO Administrator) within 5 business days.

Providers must immediately deactivate their opportunities once a match is found. This can be done by clicking “Access Your Opportunities” on the Practice Opportunities & Career dashboard and selecting “Deactivate Opportunity” below each respective opportunity.

Providers may not use or divulge any information obtained through Practice Opportunities & Careers except as may be expressly agreed to in advance by the AAO and the party supplying such information.

As a provider you may only use the service if you post a legitimate/current orthodontic opportunity.

Yes, membership information is solely for the use of the AAO and AAO-sponsored programs.
